Unto Us A Child is Born
Luke 2:18 . The story of the birth of Jesus Christ is told
many times over the last 2000 years, yet there is always
something new to learn from it. This is because it is a
message of life and it’s refreshing to the spirit. It is a
story of the fulfillment of God’s promise to mankind since
the fall of Adam and Eve. “ And I
will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your
offspring and hers, he will crush your head and you will
strike his heel” (Genesis 3:15)
While opinions differ over the exact date of birth of Jesus Christ, the most significant fact remains unchallenged. That is the Messiah, Jesus, was born in a particular place in time. This is enough reason for us to celebrate the occasion. It is comforting to note that we have someone, Jesus, who has been with us in our struggles and who is able to carry us through the year ahead. We must, therefore, celebrate Christmas with reverence and worship.
Christmas is a time of glory and happiness. It is a time of singing new songs unto the Lord even as the heavenly coir sang: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests” (Luke 2:14). We must therefore release our spirit and allow Jesus to work in us. He will break all cords and free us from all oppressions. “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work” (1 John 3:8) .
We must allow the spirit of God to touch us so we might shine and take a new course in life; becoming a shining star in our family and community.
Jesus came into the world to world to give a new life to
all who will believe. As we celebrate Him, God gives us a
new lease of life, vision, purpose, and zeal in doing His
will.
Unfortunately, the high priest, Pharisees, scribe, and
Sadducees never knew or understood this great event of the
birth of a Savior. They were blinded by religion and worldly
preoccupations. Today, many Christians have become so busy
and religious that they do not hear from God. From this
season on, we should give god a chance to speak and reveal
Himself to us.
Christmas is a season for proclaiming good tidings to people; a time of encouragement and faith building. It is a time to know we have a God who is above everything else and who will meet all our needs. The good tiding is that a Savior is born unto us, who is able to save us from the guttermost to uttermost. He is Christ the Lord.
This season let us rededicate ourselves to him.
“ For God so loved the world that
he gave his one and only son, that whosoever believes in him
shall not parish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Unto us a Savior is born.
