Know That You Are A Work In Progress In The Potter’s Hands – Aps. Dr. Bonsu

Christians have been urged to see themselves as works in progress and to stay in the hands of the Potter [God] so that He will bring them to glorious end.

Apostle Dr. Francis Bonsu, the National Head of The Church of Pentecost (COP)-Spain, said this at the Welcome Service of Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Anthony Owusu (the new National Head of COP-Canada) and family at the McKeown Worship Center in Toronto on Sunday, September 25, 2016.

Speaking on the topic, “We Are Works in Progress,” based on Jeremiah 18:1-6; Isaiah 64:11; Psalms 34:35; Jeremiah 29:11, and Ephesians 1:6, Apostle Dr. Bonsu stated that God is the Potter and believers are the clay.

“Weak as we are, we should not think of ourselves as self-sufficient but should be dependent on God. Like Israel, the Lord has called us as His special people to radiate the power and image of God to others. He is changing us everyday into the image of Jesus Christ and will lead us towards an expected end.

“Though the winds will blow, the power of God will sustain us. We are to stay in God’s hands and live holy lives. We are to rest in the Lord like David (2 Samuel 17:25) as well as trust and confide in Him like King Hezekiah and God will give us what is best (2 Kings 19).

“When you are a new convert and pray to God, it goes to God; when you an elder and pray to God, your prayers go to God. Similarly, when you are a pastor or apostle and pray, God listens. The prayer goes to God, who receives them and sorts them out according to His will.

“There is no way to boast at all, because you are clay. Titles are good but when we meet God, our heart or inner life will decide who you are before God. The Lord has created us that we cannot be full of ourselves. Therefore, when you come to a crossroad, you should tell Him and not seek after so-called men of God who themselves are also clay,” he asserted. Apostle Dr. Francis Bonsu therefore entreated believers not to decide for God but rather rest in His good plans and learn to listen and obey His voice as to when to move and when not to move for God does not fight with conventional methods.

Present at the historic service were pastors and wives and other officers from Canada and USA. The Heads who graced the occasion included: Apostle Michael Agyemang-Amoako (National Head, COP USA), Apostle Dr. John Kwame Appiah (New Jersey), Apostle Peter Amponsah (New York), Apostle Kwesi Ackah-Baidoo (Retd), Rev. Dr. Alex Agyei-Gyamera (Western Canada), and Rev. James McKeown Quainoo (Eastern Canada). Also present was Rev. Dr. Charles McVety, President of the Canada Christian College.

Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Anthony Owusu, a Canadian and International Executive Council Member of The Church of Pentecost, takes over as the sixth National Head of COP Canada, having being on missions in France from 2003-2009 and USA from 2009-2016. He thanked the Lord and the Executive Council of The Church of Pentecost for the confidence reposed in him in sending him to missions. He urged believers to avail themselves to the Holy Spirit and work hard towards the huge task ahead in Canada.

COP Canada Bids Farewell To Aps Yiadom And Family

The Church of Pentecost (COP) Canada bade farewell to Apostle Sampson Ofori Yiadom and his family at a colorful ceremony on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the McKeown Worship Center in Toronto.

Pastors and wives as well as representatives of all the districts across the nation came to show appreciation to God and Apostle Ofori Yiadom for his two-year missionary service as National Head from 2014 to 2016. The service was officiated by Apostle Samuel Kwesi Arthur, National Secretary and Area Head of Texas Region in USA.

Speaking on the sermon “You Are Always On God’s Mind!” with Psalms 8:3-4, Psalms 144:3 and Job 7:17 as his scriptural references, Apostle Arthur stated that there is not a moment when God’s eyes are off believers or His attention is distracted from them because they are always on His mind.

“We are always on God’s mind because our God is omnipotent, eternal, omnipresent and all knowing. His divine character makes Him know everything about us. He knows our plans, where we go, and the words that come out of our mouths as David described in Psalm 139.

“The sovereignty of God means He is in total control of our lives and that He has an agenda for each and every one of us as individuals. Apostle Paul said in Ephesians 1:11 ‘in Him we were chosen having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will,” he explained.

Ending his message, Apostle Arthur stated that “Though the worlds move at God’s word, it is not the mountain or the stars or the galaxies that He thinks about but His children. “David the psalmist said in Psalms 8:4, ‘What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?  Though God’s thoughts, understanding and wisdom are far above our thoughts, we are to believe on the authority of His word that His thoughts are always directed towards his children’

“In Luke 12:22-28, Jesus also told His disciples not to worry about anything. The God who led the people of Israel to the Promised Land and provided for them in time of their needs, is the same God who is our God for today. Thus we need not to worry about anything going on in our lives.  God will see to it that His purpose for our lives is accomplished” he added, quoting Psalms 40:1-5; Ephesians 1:3-11 and Isaiah 49: 15-16 to support his statement.

In a tribute, the National Executive Council in Canada expressed gratitude to God for Apostle and Mrs. Yiadom’s ministry that has propelled the church in Canada to higher heights at many levels. Apostle Yiadom and his family were also grateful to God Almighty, the Executive Council of The Church of Pentecost headed by Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, the National Executive Committee of the Church in Canada, the Pastorate, and congregation for their diverse support and encouragement that made their work smooth in Canada.

Apostle Sampson Ofori Yiadom heads to Chicago as Regional Head.  Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Anthony Owusu, a Canadian and member of the Executive Council of The Church of Pentecost, becomes Canada’s sixth substantive National Head.

“Know the Risen Christ, ”
General Secretary Exhorts Believers at 2016 Easter Convention in Toronto, Canada

IMG_4306

The General Secretary of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, has admonished Christians to delve deeper in their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in order to know and experience Him more. This was contained in a message titled “Having an Encounter with the Risen Christ” delivered to the over 1, 500 people who participated in the climax of a four (4) day Easter Convention at the Mckeown Worship Centre, Toronto, to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Apostle Kumi-larbi was the main speaker of the Convention. The General Secretary exhorted the congregation from 1 Corinthians 15:12 and Philippians 3:1-10. He stressed on the need to encounter Christ, teaching that the sons of Eli and young Samuel did not know God even though they were involved in rituals and ministerial duties. He explained the characteristics of a person who has encountered the risen Christ as one who knows His will, hears from God’s mouth, bears marks of His character, identifies with His suffering and does not live for himself/herself.
Other speakers ministered to the teaming congregation during various sessions of the festivities. This included Apostle Sampson Ofori Yiadom (National Head), Pastor James Mckeown Quainoo (Eastern Canada Area Head) and Mrs. Rose Kumi-Larbi.

The 2016 Easter Convention was held on zonal levels throughout Canada from March 24 – 27 on the theme “‘Triumphing by His Cross (Colossians 2:13-15). The Church in Canada is administered under two administrative areas (Eastern and Western Canada Areas) using three main languages- English, French and Akan as medium of communication. All the twenty nine (29) Assemblies in the ten (10) Districts were grouped into six zones (Greater Toronto, Montreal, South Western Ontario, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Vancouver). This administrative arrangement made it possible for maximum participation of the over five thousand (5000) members across the nation. The Easter season saw many non-members joining in the celebration and some surrendering their lives to Christ. The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Zone, held services separately for PIWCs and Akan in all the sessions of the festivities with exception of the Sunday service which was a joint service for both PIWCs and Akan.

In a prior message titled “Being with Christ on The Winning Side” at the PIWC session on Good Friday, Aps. Kumi-Larbi, stated that the believer is fighting his battle from a winning position and as such should not belittle himself. The old order prevented Gentiles from gaining access to God but the new order has brought Christians to a place of victory. He encouraged believers to vote for Jesus by living right as people who have been saved. He also taught members on the various victories that the death of Christ has brought us. Just as the dead rod of Aaron budded, the believer has been given a new lease of life because of the death and resurrection of Christ. (Colossians 2:1-15, Ephesians 2:1-13 and Mathew 27:62-28:1-9).

PASTORS & WIVES' WITH APS. & MRS
God revived His church through the Easter Convention. The massive participation and series of testimonies received during and after the Convention summed up the fact that God indeed has visited His church and left a memorial.
