The Unlimited Christ

By Apostle Kwesi Ackah-Baidoo, Former National Head

Matthew 8:8b, 9&13

Matthew 8:8 &9 talk about the extraordinary faith of the centurion . ... Lord I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. but just say the word and my servant will be healed . for I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, go and he goes; and that one come and he comes . I say to my servant do this, and he does it.

The Centurion knew Christ was unlimited and could cure his servant with just a word. He did not rely on any medicine, charm or anointing oil prepared by false prophets; but on the word from the Word Himself. He knew the world of God is living and powerful.

This godly soldier knew that the word of God which is like fire could burn his
servant's sickness. He also knew that as fire, the word of God cleanses. It deals with sin; it washes away sin. He was convinced that if his servant had sinned, the fire of the word would cleanse him. Similarly, we are cleansed by the blood and word of Jesus.

The Word of God is also like a hammer that smashes and demolishes. The Centurion believed that if Christ spoke the word, it would smash any sickness in the body of his servant.

Further, the Centurion relied on the word of God which is like a sword. For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the yes of Him to whom we must give account (Hebrews 4:12 & 13).

We should rely on the Word of God. It is only the word which can discover our condition and deal with it. No prophet can. We should therefore stop being deceived here and there. If we rely on God, we will go places.

The Centurion also trusted that Christ could heal from a distance. He knew Christ is not limited by time or distance. Nothing is impossible with Him.

Not only did he have faith in Christ but also he was obedient and had respect for authority as shown in Matthew 8:8 "... Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say a word, and my servant will be healed."

As an army officer, he knew that it is not easy to disobey a superior officer. He knew the devil is under Christ and is even His footstool. Therefore whatever Christ commands the devil to do, he would. As we have Christ as our personal savior and His spirit dwells in us, we have authority over the devil. We can command him and he will obey.

When the disciples were crossing to Bethsaida in a boat there was a storm which was confusing them. However, as soon as Christ entered the boat the wind ceased completely. On another occasion the disciples were in a boat with Jesus and there was a storm while He was sleeping. When they woke Him up, He commanded the storm to be still and it obeyed. In this world there will be storms in your life but if Jesus is in your boat the devil will bow before you.

You have a man who has super power. He has given you many fantastic promises in His word... He says in Isaiah 43:2, when you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

This is a promise from a great man. We should not allow people to deceive us but rather rely on Christ and trust Him to meet our needs. David says , The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want (Psalms 23;1). This means that David had absolute security in God. No matter the need, his supply was guaranteed. He did not see a limit in God. Likewise, we should see not limit in God. As the Lord is our shepherd, we shall not want.
